List Up Privacy Policy
This policy explains how the List Up shopping list app for Android and iOS (the "App") collects, uses and shares information. "We" and "us" mean the developer of List Up. If you have questions, contact us at smarttringle@gmail.com.
Summary
- You can use List Up without an account. Your lists then stay on your device.
- If you sign in with Google, we store your lists in the cloud so they sync across devices and can be shared with people you invite.
- The App shows ads through Google AdMob, which may use your device's advertising ID. Where the law requires it, the App asks for your consent first.
- We do not sell your personal information. We do not access your location, contacts, camera, microphone or files.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Shopping lists and items: list names, descriptions, emojis, colors, item names, quantities, categories, checked state and timestamps, plus list templates you save.
- Account information (only if you sign in with Google): your Google account's name, email address and profile photo, and a unique user ID created by Firebase Authentication.
Information collected automatically
- Sharing details: who created a list, who its members are, who added or checked each item, and when the list was last updated. For invites, we store an invite code, the list's name, who created the invite and when it expires.
- Sign-in details: the time of your last sign-in.
- Advertising data (collected by Google AdMob): the device advertising ID (on Android, the Google advertising ID; on iOS, the IDFA, only if you allow tracking), IP address, device and operating system information, app version, and interactions with ads. See section 4.
- Invite link data (collected by AppsFlyer): when you open or create an invite link, AppsFlyer processes technical information such as IP address, device type, operating system and the link that was opened. This is used only to open the right invite, including after a new install. We have turned off AppsFlyer's collection of the advertising ID, and we do not send it any in-app events.
- App settings stored on your device: preferences such as language, theme, whether onboarding is done, and counters that limit how often ads are shown. These stay on your device.
2. How we use information
- To provide the App's features: creating, saving and syncing your lists.
- To let you share lists: members of a shared list see the list, its items, and the names and profile photos of the other members.
- To handle invite links and open the right list when someone joins.
- To show ads that keep the App free, and to limit how often they appear.
- To keep the App secure, prevent abuse, and fix problems.
- To comply with legal obligations.
Where the EU or UK GDPR applies, we rely on: performance of a contract (to provide the features you use), your consent (for personalized ads, which you can withdraw at any time), and our legitimate interests (security, abuse prevention and non-personalized ads).
3. How information is shared
We share information only as described here:
| Who | What | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Other members of a list you share or join | The list's content, your name and profile photo, who added or checked items | Shared lists |
| Google (Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore) | Account information, lists, sharing and invite data | Sign-in, cloud storage and sync (service provider) |
| Google (AdMob, User Messaging Platform) | Advertising data and your consent choices | Showing ads and managing consent (advertising partner) |
| AppsFlyer | Invite link data | Invite links and deferred deep linking (service provider) |
| Authorities | Information required by law | To comply with law, protect rights and safety |
When you share an invite through your device's share sheet, the link and the list's name go to the app and people you choose. If the App is ever transferred to a new owner, user information may be transferred as part of that, under this policy.
Third-party privacy policies: Google, Firebase, How Google uses information in ads, AppsFlyer.
4. Ads and your choices
List Up shows a banner ad on the main screen and, occasionally, a full-screen ad after you finish a shopping trip. Ads are provided by Google AdMob.
- EEA, UK and Switzerland: the App shows Google's consent form before ads load. You can change your choice at any time in Settings → Privacy settings.
- iOS: the App asks permission before using the IDFA for tracking. You can change this in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- Android: you can reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of personalized ads, in Android Settings → Google → Ads (or Settings → Privacy → Ads).
5. Data storage and security
Without an account, your lists are stored only on your device. With an account, they are stored in Google Cloud Firestore and may be processed in countries other than your own, including the United States, under the safeguards Google provides. Data is encrypted in transit. Access to cloud data is restricted by security rules: only a list's members can read or edit it, and only you can change your profile.
No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.
6. Data retention and deletion
- We keep cloud data for as long as your account exists or as needed to provide the App.
- You can delete a list you own at any time in the App. This removes it for all members. You can also leave a shared list.
- Invite codes expire automatically.
- Data stored on your device is removed when you uninstall the App or clear its data.
- Deleting your account: email smarttringle@gmail.com from the email address of your Google account with the subject "List Up account deletion". We will delete your account, your profile and the lists you own, and remove you from lists shared with you, within 30 days. Copies may stay in backups for a short time until they are overwritten. Full details: how to delete your account.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR, the UK GDPR, California law or the Israeli Privacy Protection Law), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal information, to object to or restrict processing, and to withdraw consent. To use these rights, contact us at smarttringle@gmail.com. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
8. Children
List Up is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page and change the effective date above. For significant changes, we will also tell you in the App.
